I am super excited about this Shepherd Book comic...though part of me is sad because I suspect that would have been the focus of the second film. Sigh.

Woe is me! I just read that Dark Horse's super awesome Buffy Tarot has been cancelled due to actor conflicts. Curse you whoever it was...Gach! Now I will have to make my own as originally planned. Gosh darnit! I was really looking forward to it!

Hallmark Buffy Cards

While shopping for costumes today in Kohl's (oh my glamourous life...), I stumbled upon a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Birthday card! Its $4.99 and when you open it the Buffy tehme song plays! Very fun. So now you have a whedon-y way to wish your buffy-philes a Happy Birthday!

No rest for the weary...

Still working on editing...tis been a crazy two weeks. But a new cast is coming...

In the meantime...if you've not checked out the Justice League Cartoon...please do so. It's a veritable cornucopia of former Whedonites...and darn good too boot.

Undead America Store!

In case you weren't aware...there is an Amazon Undead America Store...I have loaded it with lots of Whedony goodness. If you buy something...or even just search for something specific that you want by starting here and using the search bar...then I get a tiny cut...which helps defray the costs of running this podcast thingamajig...I'm just saying....

New Podcast Equipment??

So I am thinking of purchasing this rig to do some "field" recording at the various conventions this summer. Does anyone have this? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Also, the next episode has been started yall..I hope to finish it up tonight perhaps. I had a grand time re-watching Destiny...so glad everyone recommended it for this episode!

#2 Designer Imposter: Twilight by Stephanie Meyer...What do you love or hate? Why would a Buffy fan like or hate this book?

Buffy Tarot up for Preorder!

Lost hundreds of years ago, the Slayer's tarot is an important artifact from Slayer history that came into existence after a group of women shared a vision of a rogue Slayer who would love a vampire and who would be aided in her fight against evil by a group of mystical allies. The heretical prophecy led to the suppression of the deck by the Watcher's Council.

Written and conceived by Rachel Pollack, author of twelve books on the tarot, including the renowned 78 Degrees of Wisdom, she teams with long-time Buffy artist Paul Lee to create this one-of-a-kind tarot card set.

This is a 78-card deck with instruction pamphlet, 88-page softcover book, in reclosable box with magnetic closure

Scheduled to ship in mid-august! SRP $15.99

Looking for more Undead America?

For some unknown reason..only a few episodes will show up on the itunes feed. If you are looking for older episodes, they can be found on http://undeadamerica.libsyn.com. Or you can find them in the my blog archives as well. I am working on making them easier to find...but part of me does not want yall listening to my first endeavors in podcasting...shudder.

Zombie Walk Chicago June 21st, 2008

There will be a Zombie Walk in Downtown Chicago. I will be there with blood on. Everyone should come.

Also at the Flashback Weekend in the following week in June, there will be a Zombie Pinup Beauty Pageant that I am very tempted to enter....

Teaser Trailer for Twilight up...

Yes America...I too am indulging in a little teen girl, escapist, vampire romance, junior-miss fiction. I am about 1/4 into the book and got very excited when I heard they were making a movie starring the dishy Cedric from Harry Potter. And yes I am 32. Shut up!

Joyce Summers...Mom for all Seasons....

With Mother's Day approaching...I thought we should take a second to give a little shout out to Buffy's mom, Joyce Summers...played by the lovely Christine Sutherland.

So here are my favorite Joyce moments:
1. School Hard- Axe wielding mama!
2. Lover's Walk- Marshmellows and hot cocoa with Spike
3. Buffy Vs Dracula- Letting in Dracula...
4. Band Candy- Very Juice Newton
5. Restless- Coming onto Xander...

So what's your favorite Joyce memory? Does your mother watch Buffy?

A little old-school vamp makeup for you....

I am doing the costumes for Collaboraction's Sketchbook '08, a short-play festival opening May 15th at the Steppenwolf Garage and running to June 16th. Here is a fun production still from a video shoot we did on wednesday night. These are two characters from a black and white "Nosferatu" style film. I did the costumes and the makeup. I used both the original Nosferatu and Angel's Prince of Lies for inspiration! Enjoy!

Go See Ironman...and Free Comic Book Day!

First of all...Ironman was AWESOME! I so loved this film and it was a great way to kick off the summer geeky movie-a-thon. Yee haw. Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant. The entire cast was perfect and the whole film just came together in such a marvelous way. I smiled the whole time. Be sure to stay for an extra scene after the credits that was a super sweet bonus.

And it's also that most wonderful time of the year, Free Comic Book Day! Find your local store and pick up a few books for free while taking advantage of the awesome sales and deals in your local store. I walked away with a bedazzled superman shirt and a wonder woman shirt plus lots-o-comic-crack.

It's a good day to be a geek!

Not Buffy...But Awesome Smallville Prop Replicas

I could totally go poor on this site. I hope he makes the Kara bracelet soon!

So it looks like we are getting Buffy comics until 2009! Weee. I also just read about a Fray/Buffy arc coming up in issue #16 which is very exciting. The amazing Karl Moline will be back to do that artwork as well! Then Jeph Loeb (Smallville and Heroes)will be doing a Buffy Animated issue.

There will be a Buffy Tarot Deck!!!! AHHHHHH! I am so excited for this!

Check out the NYCC Dark Horse Panel for more info!

The Dollhouse pilot is being shot April 23rd! weeeee! Head over to this discussion board to read a Q&A with some of the powers that be!

Sarah Connor got picked up! Weee!

If you aren't already watching Torchwood....well, get on it. James Marsters is back and very Spikey on the show. Plus he snogs Jack....and my it was hot!

Yes, I know its been a while...

Sorry folks. I keep trying and trying but life is getting in the way. I have a script to finish...another to start for my theatre, and a dear friend who lost his dad to cheer up...and those are all trumping podcasts. I am hoping to get something out this weekend...but then I have been saying that since february right. So clearly I am filled with lies.

In the meantime...check out Wildclaw's Blood Radio (yet another podcast i am working on) and check out the most recent episodes of the Scapecast for articles written by yours truly.

And for the love of pete...watch frelling Farscape. It ruleZ.

My Buffy Between the Lines Episode is up!

Weeee....Listen to my episode! I just listened and I think it turned out really well. Note that I totally cribbed a line from Sam Shepard...I doubt he will notice. Also, everyone should read the beautiful play, The Dybukk, which was also a point of inspiration. Also..there's a dash of Fiddler on the Roof just for fun.

Now to finish up my episode for season two...then I can get back to podcasting.

Dollhouse Casting has occured....

Wee...we have some casting news. Head to Dollverse for more info!

First off...the super hot Tahmoh Penikett (Helo from BSG & Wes Keenan from Smallville) is playing Paul Smith. Fran Kranz (a dude) is playing Topher Brink, Dichen Lachman is Sierra, and Enver Gjokaj is Victor. Awesome news...I love Tahmoh and we know Joss is a huge Battlestar fan so this makes perfect sense. I have heard people grousing about how these folks are relative unknowns. So was most of Buffy and almost all of Firefly's cast...and look how that turned out. Remember...In Joss, We Trust yall... do not question his genius...or question but wait and see how it turns out. My only gripe is the hard time I am going to have pronouncing these peoples names for a podcast. Ugh.

Nothing to do this Weekend?- See THEATRE!!!

I have got three options for you: Strawdog's Richard III, Wildclaw's Great God Pan, and Teatro Vista's Dreamlandia. Richard and Pan are closing this weekend...so get it while the gettin's good. Dreamlandia opens on Monday.

But Aly, what does theatre have to do with Buffy?

Well my friends...not a whole lot. But theatre is a vital branch of the arts and the experience of sitting in a theatre while actors breathe life into characters, while music and lights transform the mood in an instant, while a simple change of a hat can create a whole new character...well that is magic. Something everyone should experience. So check these shows out...

Spike plays Ted Bundy & Brainiac

James Marsters is once again exploring his inner psycho...last night's Smallville featured him as Brainiac (and he ROCKED!)...and he is sure to return in the last episodes of the season. Look for more info on Smallville from the boys at Starkville's House of El. James is also set to play serial killer Ted Bundy in the lifetime movie The Capture of the Green River Killer which premieres this saturday. I put it on ye olde tivo...If you saw them let me know what you think!

Buffy Reunion at Paley Center News

First of all, I hate everyone of you who got to go.

Since that's out of the way, here's the skinny:

Michelle Trachtenberg will be joining the cast of CW's Gossip Girl (I will still not be watching though...)

Seems unlikely that there will be another Buffy project unless lots of stars align.

Sarah Michelle was surprised by Buffy's trip to the L Word in comics.

Amber Benson and I have the same haircut!

Joss would love to take Buffy to Broadway.

Oz will be showing up in Season Eight Comics (weeeeeeee!).

Go here to read a nice summary.

Spike: After the Fall Comic Series

IDW will release a new comic miniseries, Spike:After the Fall, beginning in July. Brian Lynch and Franco Urru, the creative team on Angel: After the Fall . will handle the creative chores on the new four-issue miniseries.

The story for the new miniseries will flow out of "First Night," an upcoming story arc in issues #6 through #8 of Angel: After the Fall.

The Spike: After the Fall storyline will take Spike from the events in "First Night" and explore his changing relationship with Illyria in the new city. It will answer many questions, including how Spike ended up taking over a certain mansion in Westwood.

Buffy Mini-Scythe for Pre-Order

Woot! Finally some new Buffy swag. I am sooooo getting this.

Now, Factory X adds the miniature version of the Slayer's Scythe from the highly popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer prop replica series. The Miniature Slayer's Scythe was created referencing the full 1:1 version produced by Factory X. The original Factory X 1:1 Scythe was crafted by using Joss Whedon's personal souvenir prop scythe as reference. The collectible miniature Slayer's Scythe is 10.5 inches long and weighs less then 1 pound, making this Slayer's Scythe a must have for every office desk and serious collector of Buffy prop replicas. This handsome piece makes a great letter opener or simply protection for those that hunt the night. Retails for $22.95 and scheduled to ship in June!

On sale for $19.99 from Time and Space Toys and use the FREESHIPPING Code and put at least one in stock item in your basket and you get it shipped free. Nice!

Buffy Between the Lines Wins Best Audio Drama Award!

Weeee....click here for details! I just now noticed that Undead America was nominated for best fancast...shows how out of the podcast loop I have been. But fear not brave listeners! I have just finished reading all the recent Buffy and Angel comics. So expect the comic roundup next week and then hopefully I will be back on a normal schedule again. And the episode of Buffy Between the Lines that I wrote is coming up soon! I am busy finishing up my episode for season two as well!

Oh gotta go to dress rehearsal! Adios!

Plush Vampire Stake for Your Inner Buffy

I whipped up a plushy vampire stake out of some wood grain material I found. I am taking orders for these...if ya want one they are $10 each plus $2 for US shipping...

Email me at alyrenee@NOSPAMgmail.com (removing the spam thing obviously).

I can do paypal or money orders...and an order would take about a week to fill at the moment.

A New Episode...just not for this show...

Okay this is the weekend for podcasting...I got the first one done, but its for my new podcast, WildClaw Blood Radio! Its a podcast about horror, horror theatre, and Wildclaw Theatre Company. In the first episode we chat about the origins of horror theatre, why we like to be scared, and our very first production, The Great God Pan. Check it out to see what we are all about...and to see why I have been so bloody busy lately and unable to get you a proper buffy podcast.

But fear not...I went to the comic store yesterday and picked up all my languishing books. So there will be a comics roundup coming to you shortly! And I think I have finally figured out the interview thing...so some of those will be coming soon.

Te he...Dirty Supernatural, Smallville, & Dollhouse

So I thought I would share this...gave me a chuckle this morning. So I have a system set so I can track what brings people to my blog, i.e. google searches for "buffy podcast" etc... So someone stumbled upon my humble podcast/blog by typing "Jenson Ackles Strip Club"....very intriguing. If anyone knows where I might find Jenson Ackles stripping...I will be there in a heartbeat.

And in more important news: Supernatural got the greenlight for another season. Yee frelling ha! Smallville is coming back for its eighth season as well! I would not be surprised to see more of James Marsters as Brainiac next season since Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) is not committing to a full season next year.

And hopefully we will start hearing more about Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku's Dollhouse show! Some rightfully untrusting fans have already started a petition to save the show before it has even aired... I stumbled on a nice Dollhouse website called Dollverse. It has a complete listing of the character descriptions and lots of other new info.

Need more Corey in your life? Lost Boys: The Tribe

Well we all knew it would happen. Just when you thought the onslaught of bad gothy vampire/werewolf films was coming to an end...the powers that be dig deep to the root of it all: The Lost Boys. So here we have a trailer for the newest version of young teens lured into a shady, sweaty, probably smelly vampire lifestyle because a hot blonde dude told you to drink something. Hey, we've all been there right? According to the trailer, we will be treated to the motorcycles, bloody beach campfires, and goth metal soundtrack we came to know and love from the original...and even some appropriately 80's metal big hairstyles if we are super lucky. But the coup de grâce is seeing Corey Feldman reprise his role as Edgar Frog. I don't know where you fell in the heated Corey vs Corey saga that was the 80s...but Mr. Haim left me cold...Viva la Feldman! Though his weird Michael Jackson love is still UBER creepy to this day. Both the original Lost Boys and this newer version seem like perfect Designer Imposter candidates, don't you think?

Gift From Me...Buffy Paper Dolls

I drew these last year I think? Its a Dress Me Up Buffy and all of her most memorable fashions. I plan on doing a bunch of these and have started on Willow as well. If I find someone selling these...I WILL hunt you down and stake you. But feel free to print them out and have fun coloring them for your own personal use. I have been working on coloring them in photoshop...but I am not done yet. Then I plan to make magnetic versions for my fridge!

Still nothing on tv? Rent Night of the Comet!

Night of the Comet
This has got to be one of my favorite films from childhood. I am no doubt a product of the 80's. My Incredible Hulk doll was best friends with my Donny Osmond doll (why you ask...they both loved purple...and Hulk was a little bit country). I still think leg warmers are the COOLEST and I am a maniac, MANIAC on the floor! When Night of the Comet made its way to cable tv, I was the tender age of 10 and this movie was like totally rad. A mall shopping spree montage scene, machine guns, valley girls, and no adults...what could have been better? I also loved horror movies....so zombies were also A+ in my book. And this one has punk rock new wave zombies no less. Plus Regina had the BEST feathered hair ever. Sigh...

This movie is a must-see for the Buffy fan. There is so much Whedony goodness to be had in this flick: snarky,ass-kicking,mall-loving grrrls...zombies...and did I mention the mall montage scene? Don't forget the sweet 80's synth score and a soundtrack which contains a disturbing amount of Michael McDonald-esque vocal performances.

In the meantime....check out Geektress!

Ladies after my own heart....I think we may be bff's from another lifetime. The blog is great as well...and they are actually putting up podcasts unlike my lame-ass self. Listen and enjoy....

Not dead yet....

Wow...its been a crappy winter yall. Podcasting has been the least of my worries...crazy hellmouth of hate has opened up beneath me in the winter tundra-land of Chicago. Its almost back to normal now...I have one more big gig to finish up then I can get you the buffy/angel podcast that you deserve...so bear with me for a little bit longer.

Oh and send me a pony.

We are here to scare you....Come see Pan in Chicago!

My theatre company's first production, The Great God Pan has opened in Chicago! Pleas come check it out. Lots of scarey goodness, blood, monsters, women who kick ass, and funny accents. What more could you want? Don't trust me...read this nice review!
And you can here an interview with our fabulous director (with a funny accent to boot!) here! http://www.chicagopublicradio.org/Content.aspx?audioID=18899

And you can read the original story that inspired the play here!

Dollhouse Podcast

FYI...When this show rolls around...I believe I will be adding it to undead america...or possibly doing a spin off podcast...but since I can hardly find time for this one..chances of doing a second one are SLIM.

Buffy Plush Stake Crocheted by Me!

Well I got my box of knitting goodies from Knitpicks and tried making a plush Buffy stake for safe stabbing fun. I used the Palette yarn in Inca Gold. I sort of free form riffed the design starting at the pointing end and slowly increasing on the way up. In a few spots I would increase then decrease again to give it a bump would like appearrance a la Mister Pointy. Hope you like it. I plan to make a fabric version and maybe sell some since the originally planned soft plush stake never was made. I just need to find a fabric with a wood texture print. Or maybe print up my own.

Some Answer from Diamond Select Toys...

Head over to the BTVSFigs Forum to read the new "Ask DST" thread to get some answers to your figures and collectibles questions. Here is the gist: Willow deluxe exclusives don't seem to be going anywhere, no more Buffy busts, no more Buffy ornaments, the Faith exclusives are unlikely, no chance for T1 figures...so basically no more Buffy Figures period. Boo I say. Boo. I guess we will know more after Toyfair 2008.

The Psychology of Joss Whedon: An Unauthorized Exploration of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly (Psychology of Popular Culture series) (Paperback)
by Joy Davidson
Book Description
Joss Whedon—creator of the wildly popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer, its spin-off Angel, the short-lived series Firefly, and the feature film it inspired, Serenity—takes a seat on the couch in this in-depth examination of the psychological gravity that has captivated his deeply devoted fan base. Whedon fans will enjoy a discussion of issues that are both funny and profound, from the significance of Angel’s mommy issues and the best way to conduct government experiments on vampires to what could drive a man to become a cannibalistic Reaver and the psychological impact of being one girl in all the world chosen to fight the forces of darkness.

Writer's Strike got you down? Try These Shows....

Well thought I'd whip a little list of shows to check out INSTEAD of subjecting yourself to American Gladiators (shudder) or similar reality tripe (exception being anything on the discovery channel...I love all that stuff):

God Save the BBC!

Thankfully, the UK has us covered. There are several shows worth watching on BBCAmerica and many more available through netflix and the like. Several of these shows even take their cues from a Mr. Whedon as well. The most obvious being Hex, a show about witches, ghosts, and demons at a fancy-pants boarding school, oh my! I like it. It does take itself pretty darn seriously most of the time and, consequently, can come off as melodrama. But still worth a watch. Torchwood is also a keeper. A spin-off from the equally swell Doctor Who, the uber-hot Captain Jack Harkness leads a crack squad of action nerds to safeguard the world against alien threats. Its a mish-mash of Doctor Who and X-files with a dash of Whedon. I love it. Of course the aforementioned Doctor Who rocks. And both Torchwood and Doctor Who have sported Buffy alumnus as guest stars. Look for James Marsters to appear in season two of Torchwood starting shortly on BBCAmerica. I have heard great things about Life on Mars too and its waiting to be viewed in the netflix queue.

Things on now you might have missed...

Blood Ties: I totally missed the first season of this myself and need to find it. Its on the Lifetime network of all places and is based on the vampire fiction series by Tanya Huff and focuses on Vicki Nelson, female detective focusing on the supernatural...also has some super hot dudes on the show...one a vampire. What's not to love? I have heard some pretty good things about this show...from men even who are horrified to be admitting they found something good to watch on the lifetime channel. Older episodes are available to watch online too. There have been two seasons and it seems as though Lifetime is going to be dumb and cancel it...when will these networks learn? Sigh.

Moonlight...i might go back and watch this one...especially since there are no other options and it does have Jason Dohring.

And of course....check out Smallville, Supernatural, Heroes etc. goes without saying...

Old TV to rent....

The Kindred: not many saw the tv adaptation of the popular Whitewolf vampire role playing game, The Masquerade. And some that did see it wished it never happened. I sort of love its ridiculousness. I played the game back when it first came out and pretty much loved any tv show or film with fangs. It also has some Buffy alums in it. Jack O'Toole from the Zeppo (Channon Roe), Wesley's rich red head girlfriend Virginia Bryce (Brigid Brannagh), The Judge/Vampire Luke (Brian Thompson), and Rack/Zachary Kralik (Jeff Kober) are all main characters. It did not make a full season so you can buzz through it in a hurry. The one interesting thing that the tv show and the game have in common is the concept of vampire clans...that different vampire bloodlines possess special traits. I always thought that was a groovy idea.

Vampire High...oh where do I start on this one? Hailing from Canada, Vampire High has the same set up to Hex just replacing spoiled english rich kids and witches with canadian rich kids and vampires. My sister and I thought it was wonderfully campy and we are still trying to get the rest of it to watch. Last I checked, netflix only had a season summary type dvd for rent and not the whole season. Lots of hissing and broody boys in bad ruffle shirts and the like.

Charmed: Yes I know. Its very silly. Still I enjoyed it. Its a guilty pleasure show. Good news is there are LOTS of seasons to rent so it will keep you occupied for quite a while

Forever Knightt: Before Angel thought it was cool to be a brooding detective, Nick Knight played a toronto cop stuck working the night shift trying to get redemption for his countless sins...sound familiar? CBS used to show Forever Knight in its late night time slots so unless you were an insomniac like me in the 90s...then you probably missed this show. My friends and I in high school were wild about the show. It had a similar set up as the Highlander series or a Buffy episode like Darla or Becoming...where there would be several flashback's to Nick's naughty past that would have some sort of bearing on the current case/crime he was dealing with in the present. And like Whedon's Angel, Nick came with lots of vampire baggage: his hovering nefarious sire LaCroix, an old vampire girlfriend Janette, human allies like medical examinar Natalie who know his plight, and also keeping his true nature a secret from those that wouldn't understand like his coworkers in the police force. The biggest difference is found in the vampire cure plotline that runs through much of the show and much less supernatural demon mumbo jumbo. There are three seasons that are currently getting the dvd treatment and the Scifi Channel will sometimes do a marathon.

Well these suggestions should keep your tv in magic, demons, and fangs for the time-being. Soon I will come up with a movie suggestion list as well. Until then, get renting and watching and let me know what you think.

Blink and you'll miss Giles in Sweeney Todd!

Well good news is...i am finally feeling slightly better. The headache has finally relented. The bitter cough is still there with a vengeance and my throat still feels raw...but there is light and hopefully a new podcast at the end of the tunnel.

Since I was feeling slightly human, I ventured out of my sickbed to catch Sweeney Todd this evening. As a costumer....this film was a major treat for the eyes. And for the ears as well. Sondheim's score sounded fantastic! That's one great thing about film musicals....no need to be held to the dimensions of an orchestra pit. The other swell thing is being able to do tons of costume changes hence the fabulousness of Mrs. Lovett's seashore dream sequence. Johnny Depp was yummy and everyone looked fabulous. Sacha Baron Cohen was really funny and fantastic but a special mention must be made to a very LARGE supporting role played by something in his trousers. Wow! (Sacha...call me!) Our very own librarian, Anthony Stewart Head, appeared for a mere moment though. Originally he was to have a larger singing part but the chorus songs were cut from the film version. Still it was nice to see him and damn if he didn't look dead sexy in victorian wear and sideburns. Sigh. The images would make for swell Giles/Victorian Angelus slash fan videos. Get on that 'kids who have lots of spare time to make up slash fan videos". You know who you are...

Even sicker...Happy flippin' New Year

If it is even possible...I am still sick, possibly sicker than ever. Its very frustrating. I would be podcasting if my voice were up to speed but it is very cracky and sore. So sadly kids...i've got nothing. But expect something as soon as I can speak without sounding like a long lost sister to Marge Simpson.

still sick and barely alive

In case you were wondering...I have been super sick for almost three weeks now. Like...cough till I gag sick...like head feels like its in a vice grip sick...like toxic fluids oozing from my nose sick...you get the picture. And I lost my voice...its finally coming back. But I thought I would spare you all from my hacking wheezing and marge simpson sounding voice. I will try to be back soon yall!

WildClaw Theatre-Bringing Horror to the Chicago Stage!

As if I did not have enough to do...Some of my crazy pals and I are starting up a new theatre company in Chicago dedicated to bringing horror and fantasy to the Chicago stage! Many of the individuals involved were responsible for doing Clive Barker's In The Flesh play in the early 90's which was the first and most influential piece of theatre that I had ever seen. Now I am one of them and its very cool! So if you have some extra cash lying about and want to support the arts, head over to our website (which is in progress) or if you live in the area, mark your calendars for December 8th for the Wildclaw Wicked Winter Carnival Benefit Extravaganza....it will be a heck of a party. Our first production is Arthur Machen's The Great God Pan...and seriously folks, this is going to be some sexy scarey stuff of nightmares. I cannot wait. here's the poster...and if that isn't enough to make you come to Chicago to see it...I am not sure what's wrong with you?

FANS STAND BEHIND WRITERS IN LABOR DISPUTE
Fans4Writers.com Web site launched to pool resources, coordinate activities

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - "Don't write until it's right."

That's the message fans have for writers of their favorite shows as the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike nears the end of its first week. On Thursday, November 8, an ad hoc group of fans from around the nation launched Fans4Writers.com, as part of a grassroots coordinated effort to support WGA writers.

"As fans, obviously we want to see our shows back on the air as soon as possible," said organizer Brenda Lawhorn. "But at the same time, we recognize that it's the writers who make these shows so compelling, and they need to get fair compensation for the work they do."

The Fans4Writers campaign is made up of several components:

DIRECT SUPPORT: Through its "Food for Thought" program, Fans4Writers will organize and facilitate the delivery of provisions to writers on the picket lines. In addition, fans will gather to join their favorite writers on the picket lines.

MORAL SUPPORT: Through a paid ad in a major publication, fans will tell the industry - and the public - in no uncertain terms that they support the writers' right to a fair deal.

FOUNDATION SUPPORT: At the conclusion of the strike, any remaining funds will be donated to the Writers Guild Foundation to support its charitable and educational activities.

"The studios might not be prepared to value the writers highly enough to offer them a fair deal," said Christopher Frankonis, another of the site's organizers. "But the fans will commit themselves, their time, their energy, and their money to show just how highly we value them, for as long as the strike lasts."

Fans4Writers volunteers will make another "Food for Thought" food drop at 9 a.m. Friday morning at the WGA's planned picket line, in front of the 20th Century Fox studio on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles.

DIY Angel Season Six Comic Covers!

Announcing a NEW INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE at our Buffy Collector Club:
Angel: After the Fall Interactive Comic Subscription Experience

September 21, 2007 (Pittsburgh, PA): Online toy and collectible retailer Time and Space Toys has teamed up with IDW Publishing to offer Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fans a chance to get involved in the much anticipated Angel: After the Fall comic book series. Conceptualized by Buffy/Angel creator Joss Whedon himself, the twelve issue series will pick up where Season Five of the fan-favorite television series left off. Time and Space Toys will offer its own exclusive version of the series, inviting fans themselves to create and select the cover artwork for eleven of the twelve issues. Billed as an "interactive comic subscription," fans who have subscribed to Time and Space Toys' exclusive series will have the opportunity to pitch and discuss cover ideas and vote amongst themselves to determine the exclusive cover concepts that will be used on the published comic books.

Public fan forum SlayAlive.com has been chosen as the venue for entry submissions, discussion and voting. Entries need not be actual drawings, but can also be concepts and ideas to be transformed by IDW's team of artists into a unique cover. A contest will be held each month for the next month's cover. Each month's winner will receive a cover credit in the issue as well as a prize package of Buffy and Angel merchandise from the Time and Space Toys Buffy Collector Club. Each of the twelve issues is limited to 1000 copies. The twelve month subscription to the exclusive cover series is available to purchase only at Time and Space Toys' Buffy Collector Club website, BuffyCollectorClub.com.

"This is a unique experience in which fans' own ideas can be immortalized," says Time and Space Toys President Kevin Kriess. " I cannot think of a better way for the continuing story of Angel. The fan ideas and forum interaction will create another level of entertainment and fun for the participants over the next twelve months."

"This is a creative way to involve Angel's passionate fanbase in this exciting new series," added Chris Ryall, IDW's Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, "and I'm happy to work with Kevin-and the fans-to deliver some special covers for this project."

The first issue in the series is scheduled to be released on November 28, 2007 and features a "launch" cover exclusive shared by Pittsburgh area comic store chain, New Dimension Comics. Issues 2 through 12 will be released about once per month after that, each featuring a winning fan cover concept.
