ok ok ok ok ok, beyond all the crying i did when she got the award...

i understand that buffy is very attached to angel, and what he did was a very nice gesture, but after all the things they said to each other, and all her 'dying on the inside' business, i just dont understand why everything was hunky dory? i mean yeah yeah happy ending n all that n as if that stuff didnt make you cry, but it just felt a little... like we missed something??

sure perhaps im just totally missing the point, i wouldnt be surprised, i just think that the changes between buffy and angel throughout the episode kinda just hit a funny tone by that prom scene

having just gotten out of a very mentally abusive relationship for the last 2 years i do understand that its hard to separate from someone, maybe i just saw this as being a bit weak on buffys behalf with her wanting things to go back to 'normal' and her willingness to ignore what had been said

having said that, i could just be a little sore on the whole subject, as its incredibly different being able to see things from the outside as opposed to within where things are somewhat cloudy...

after rewatching this episode though, i have tremendously different feelings on it, it used to be "just when he walks in OH!!! n she's all happy n she gets the award n giles is all awww n wesleys a twit, n just oh!!!!" (as in my previous comment) which still stands for the award part and giles being proud and wesley being... well... wesley, but as for angel coming in and dancing with her, i just have an extreme dislike for that part now, it seems ill-fitting and just off for me...

so yes... not quite on the subject of Music of the Buffyverse, but something i felt as a different view/opinion of the scene

(p.s. i hope you recvered after the MSwalk!)

Well I have to say after watching Destiny and listening to the commentary I really like this episode. Joss originally threw out the cup as a joke and they actually used it. Steven DeKnight is a great writer and I always enjoy episodes that he helps write in this and Buffy and Smallville. I really like the flashbacks the most. Even if we have to listen to David butcher his accent. I mean how could you not enjoy the flashbacks? I also really really enjoy the fight scene showing the ongoing conflict between the two of them. Showing that their fight is much much more than just a fight about a girl I.E. Buffy. I hope these opinions help. Have a good episode. -Jen

Yes, the MS Walk was great! Thanks so much! My sister's team...we raised like $8000!! And we were one of top fundraisers for Chicago!

And yeah..I get what you are saying..they have this weird breakup and then he shows up. But I think the moment is more about Buffy having that one perfect 'normal' high school girl moment...possibly for the first time ever in her life (and probably the last time)..and Angel realizing that this is the one thing he can do for her (and do right by her). It's a small gesture but it means so much i think. No one wants to be alone at Prom...
